Slide Mountain – 03/16/13

trip-PhotoThe weather was finally on our side. The previous month’s hike had to be cancelled due to a snow storm preventing us from even getting to the mountain.

It was a great day for a winter hike and there where a lot of people taking advantage of it. We arrived about the same time as the folks from the Triple Cities Hiking Club and hiked to the peak with them. We had some good “scouting” discussions with Larry, who is a hiking merit badge councilor.

When we arrived at the summit, there was a good view of the Ashokan reservoir, but by the time we finished eating lunch, the snow had set in and the reservoir was gone. A steady snow accompanied us down the mountain.

It had been a while since our last hike and it felt good to get out again.
